Constantinos Christofides
Professor of Physics, Chairman Board of Directors of the Cyprus Cancer Research, Institute 4th Rector of University of Cyprus (UCY).

Research interests vary, from applied optics, matter-light interaction, solar materials, solar energy and photovoltaics. He was a member of the Editorial Board of the book series "Progress in Photothermal and Photoacoustic Science and Technology", published by the American Institute of Physics, as well as a member of the Photonics and Optoelectronics Research Group in the Department of Physics. He published more than a hundred scientific papers and also he is author of three books with very prestigious publishers.

Professor Christofides has been serving as UCY Rector for two consecutive four-year terms (2010-2018). As the UCY Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs (2006-2010), he played an active role in establishing the University of Cyprus in the research community worldwide, as well as in strengthening the university-industry collaboration. He has been working consistently for the accomplishment of the UCY strategic goals.

In November 2017 the Government of France awarded Professor Christofides with the title of the Officer of the Order of Academic Palms (Ordre des Palmes Académiques), receiving one of France’s most prestigious honors.

In Mars 2019 Professor Christofides has received the prestigious title: Manager of the Year (2018)

In June 2019 the Government of Italy awarded Professor Christofides with the title of the Order of the Star of Italy (Ordine Della Stella D’Italia Commendatore), receiving one of Italy’s most prestigious honors.
